The access to Portasol can be by car or by plane. From San José to Portasol the driving distance is 131 miles vía Quepos and 119 via Dominical. From Quepos to Portasol is 18 miles southeast and only 11 miles northwest from Dominical to Portasol.

Sansa and Nature Air,  two domestic airlines offer daily flights from San José to Quepos. The approximate flying time is 20 minutes.
